Big Pink, a family-style restaurant serving classic comfort food with a gourmet twist, recreates the TV dinner complete with a six-compartment metal tray. Owner Myles Chefetz, who made Nemo one of the few successful combinations of scene and cuisine on the beach, opened Big Pink in 1996.
Big Pink is a visual standout even in a pastel-packed district and has built a reputation for serving generous portions at reasonable prices. Living up to its name, Big Pinks open kitchen features chrome and white tile, but everything else is pink: pink barstools at the long bar accented with high-tech lamps, pink Plexiglas tables set as groupings and also in long, cafeteria-style configurations, even a pink accented menu. Big Pink also prides itself on living up to its well earned motto, "Real Food for Real People, Really," which brings patrons back again and again asking for its familiar and satisfying items.
